~ What does a individual session look like?
Sessions generally start with a guided meditation as you learn to become aware of how you’re feeling physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. From there you may be led to doodle or scribble on paper with colours. I will listen to you reveal the challenges, concerns or burdens, I will notice any metaphors and/or images that are said. I will also ask you to take note of any body sensations - shallow breathing, pain, or tightness, that could be happening during the session. From this I will suggest very accessible art approaches for you to choose from such as: visual art, movement, music, poetry, etc. No art experience is necessary to engage in the art making. Journalling is a big part of the therapeutic process for you to discover what is revealed from the art making, thereby discovering what is needed for your self care. Finally at the end of every session you will have a meaningful "take away" that you can incorporate into your daily life.
